ANATOMALIA anatomy + anomaly + femalia
ANATOMALIA – TROMSØ
an immersive dance+ performance with chorus
(jogging, dancing and singing - no experience needed)
Stand Up Dance, led by Meagan O’Shea
is bringing ANATOMALIA
to Tromsø Kunstforening this May.
ANATOMALIA is a queer, feminist, dance+ performance that tracks the recovery from violence/the damage done to femalia*, a collective healing, a reclamation, and a celebration of queer joy. Through cheeky, sensual and surreal choreographies and immersive installations, ANATOMALIA is a new kind of hero’s journey, attempting to change inner landscape and outer world.
*all femaleness
The audience follows the chorus through the immersive spaces to discover the next scene as they create pathways and patterns. The chorus is an ever-evolving, constant presence, orbiting the performers. Dancers embody and traverse states of shame, fear, repulsion and rage, before transforming through vocal and physical choreography to discover and embrace desire, curiosity, trust and joy. The chorus participates in some choreographies and represents the ancestors, the grandmothers, the future and an alternate us.
We are looking for local queer / FLINTA / newcomers to participate as a volunteer chorus. As a group you will be a jogging, dancing, singing backdrop for an immersive, multi-sited performance experience with ensemble choreographies, theatrical installations, partnering, singing and partial nudity.
